Modern software systems are complex. To manage complexity, it is essential to introduce additional levels of abstracts using models. Models can be processed (read, write, evaluate) using the metamodeling techniques that have been standardized by the OMG in form of the Meta Object Facility (MOF) standard.
In this session, you will learn how to use MOF and JMI (Java Metadata Interface).
Basic knowledge of UML are a prerequisite to benefit from this session. |

UML2 2.x and RSM 7.x support added to andromda |

Unfortunately, the UML2 1.x EMF dependencies are not compatible with the UML2 2.x dependencies, both cannot be loaded by andromda at the same time. Since the maven andromda-plugins loads and validates all repositories when loading, and there is no way (that I know of) to change the plugin dependencies dynamically, the dependencies must be changed manually before running. Any suggestions would be welcome. Perhaps we can deprecate UML2 1.x support when everything has been thoroughly tested.

The next AndroMDA Boot Camp training ("from scratch to your own cartridge in 4 days") takes place from March 20th to March 23rd, in Bonn, Germany. The training is in German language with English slides. You can learn how to write your own AndroMDA cartridge that generates the code specific for your own application architecture.
- The course material and the sample have been updated for AndroMDA 3.2
- We will have a CVS server to collaborate on the sample
- We will also have an HTTP server with a Maven repository
- We will have a wireless LAN to connect to those servers
- Everything right in the classroom
Please register online at http://www.andromda.com . I'll be happy to welcome you in Bonn... Matthias Bohlen matthias [at] andromda.org

JAX 2004: Model Driven Architecture in practice with AndroMDA |

Date: May 2004
Location: JAX 2004, Frankfurt
Part1:
MDA can be used to generate most of the architecture of an application. A case study of Lufthansa Systems shows how the open source generators AndroMDA and XDoclet have been used to create a Tomcat web application from a UML model. You will hear about pitfalls and lessons learned from this project. Also, Matthias Bohlen and Peter Friese will give an update on the just-released new version 3,0 of AndroMDA.
Part 2:
Transformations play a central role in Model Driven Architecture. This case study shows how transformations are integrated in AndroMDA and how you can develop your own project-specific transformations. Matthias and Peter will give detailled tips on modelling and will show a brand new cartridge that creates web applications from UML activity diagrams. |
